ムラマサ☆ (Muramasa☆) SELFISH GIRL!! For the main course, have some happy fun healthy Japanese ska! Jumpy, fun, up-beat, catchy; this single is the epitome of good-time music. Plastic Tree スピカ (Spica) Well, good lord, it's about time Plastic Tree released something new after their Chandalier album! (THAT WAS WAY BACK FROM THE LAST TIME I UPDATED, WHICH IS FOREVER AGO. I think I'm more of a slacker than Pura are, though.) All complaining aside, Spica is a beautiful single. The title song is slow, calm, and lovely; Romu is a bit more 'catchy', but it's still quite on the mellow side. I love this single. 1. スピカ (Spica) 2. ロム (Romu)
LM.C OH MY JULIET. So...allow me to explain LM.C! It's a two-man unit consisting of Aiji (former guitarist of PIERROT ;_;) on guitar and Maya (a former back-up guitarist for Miyavi) on vocals. LM.C is apparently short for Lovely Mochochang, which sounds like something that you can find on the menu of Starbucks to me, but that's another story. Anyway, these guys are awesome; this is their third and latest release, and no, it's not a cover of Takashi Fujii's song of the same title. I wish it was. Regardless of my bootless hopes, LM.C are crazy addictive. They have a sound that reminds me of Western pop-punk in some of it, but they're enjoyable to just about any regular ol' j-rock fan, I'd think. 1. OH MY JULIET. 2. Haunted House make a Secret
KENICHI ITO ルーシーはサービスメンタルフロア (Lucy wa Service Mental Floor) "I" NOVEL 10 I LOVE THIS MAN 'nuff said, you know how it goes with Kenichi. >X Engrish-tastic, catchy, and goofy. I love it so hard.
OLIVIA inspi' REIRA (TRAPNEST) Winter sleep OLIVIA inspi' REIRA (TRAPNEST) // NANA ending theme I've fallen completely in love with Olivia Lufkin. Completely. She has a beautiful voice and a very unique, complex musical style. This particular tune is another ending theme for the anime edition of Ai Yazawa's shoujo pile of awesomeness entitled NANA, and I like it a lot. Maybe even as much as a little pain. Anyway - it's extremely mellow, subtle and generally can be described as "dream-like" in a sense of loveliness. The lyrics are in English and are just as beautiful as the melody and the vocals and the vocalist herself. LOVE IT.
メトロノーム (Metronome) 絶望さん (Zetsubou-san; Mr. Despair) サイクルリサイクル (CYCLE RECYCLE) Metronome are so fun. They've got a unique game-inspired techno rock style and I find them more and more addictive. A lot of their stuff is actually pretty up-beat, and terribly catchy. This song is definitely one of those classified as "catchy"; if the old western-esque intro doesn't do it for you, just wait until Sharaku starts spouting the Engrish. Wonderful.
YUI CHE.R.RY CHE.R.RY I first discovered YUI through her performing LIFE, an ending song for the BLEACH anime, and have since enjoyed the rest of her music. This is her newest single and I love it. It reminds me of Western '90s rock; it's subtle, but still catchy and all kinds of enjoyable.
